Description
92 points Tim Atkin
"Durbanville, Elgin and the Overberg are the three origins here, with ageing in 20% new wood. Nicely self-assured, this is the best Pinot Noir yet from Rudger van Wyk, with lots of rose petal and summer berry aromas, finely wrought tannins and a lovely sense of energy. 2023-29"
90 points Vinous
“The 2021 Pinot Noir comes from Elgin, Overberg and Durbanville and is aged in 20% new French oak for 12 months including 20% whole bunch. It has fine transparency on the nose with red pastille-like fruit, red cherries and crushed strawberry. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, harmonious and approachable with an easygoing finish. A fine follow-up to the impressive 2020.”

"Full bottle 1,401 g.
Tasted blind. Looks like the product of saignée! Some Pinot character on the nose. A little raspberry fruit and good balance on the palate. Pretty. A beginning, middle and end. 16.5/20 points."
Vinous Reverie Notes
Grapes for the Pinot Noir are sourced from three differenct cool-climate vineyards in the Western Cape region. The Overberg region brings a very classic and elegant strawberry-fruit profile, while the vineyards in Elgin adds structure and depth. The grapes from Cape Town gives the final wine a very alluring perfume.
