"A touch of stony smoke hovers above lemon-peel notes on the nose of this wine. The slender palate vibrates with fruit and ripe freshness and still shimmers with an edge of yeasty reduction, with lightness at the core. The finish is dry and vivid."
Vinous Reverie Notes
Four of the greatest terroirs of Alsace for Riesling are Schlossberg, Sommerberg, Rangen and the Grand Crus adjoining Ribeauvillé; Kirchberg and Geisberg. Paul Fuchs, having taken over from his father Henry, has great Riesling sites in Ribeauvillé; not only the famous Kirchberg, but also a little-known parcel named Hagel located up above Kirchberg which, though not Grand Cru, is certainly making wine on that level. Paul makes an excellent classic Riesling from terroirs at the base of the village and above - the combination provides for a beautifully balanced, excellent value Riesling. Dry and elegant wine which open after 5 min in the glass.
