"Very dark garnet. Aromas of black cherry, cassis and freshly turned potting soil. Black-cherry and green-herb flavours mix with a touch of whiskey barrel and tobacco leaf. Fresh and juicy thanks to excellent acidity, with notes of green herbs lingering in the finish. Muscular tannins are quite fine-grained and fairly restrained despite the wine's youth. Very pretty and seemingly built for the long haul. Outstanding. 18+/20 points. (AY)"
Vinous Reverie Notes
The Cabernet Sauvignon Bates Ranch offers a very classic, pure, focused profile as well as textbook Cabernet notes of black currants, leafy herbs, freshly sharpened pencils and spring flowers. Elegant, layered and impeccably balanced, with ultra fine tannin, it stays light and graceful on the palate; while it plays in the more lean, elegant end of the spectrum, it has beautiful purity and length. It should drink well for a decade or more.
