Description
95 points James Suckling
"What a haunting beauty this fabulously elegant Spatlese is. The cool, slightly limey freshness exactly balances delicate grape sweetness. This lies right on the borderline of light-bodied and medium-bodied, but the way it does that and simultaneously walks the tightrope of sweetness and dryness is what makes this so exciting. Drink or hold."
Vinous Reverie Notes
The Brauneberg hillside site is celebrated for its historical significance, as it dates back to Roman cultivation, as well as its terrifyingly steep slope. The site itself is an extremely isolated, south-facing hill that is found to be surprisingly dry. The Juffer vineyard surrounds the smaller Juffer Sonnenuhr on three sides, extending both upstream and downstream, as well as above the sundial. Tasting Notes: Aromatically it is clear the grapes have reached a higher level of ripeness as their characterstics lean more towards tropical and sweet. On the palate the wine is still serious, with sharp acidity that prevents the wine from coming off as reductive.
