Jancis Robinson
"Full bottle 1,248 g. Chemical-free, biodynamic farming, following Fukuoka principles and lunar phases which was introduced by young, third-generation Maria Sole Giannelli. The unusual label is a black-andwhite sketch of a woman watering the soil, her head is half a red pomegranate and her ankles and feet are roots going into the ground. Designed by an illustrator from Milan called Anna Neudecker, the human figure represents the human element, her 'head' the pomegranate trees growing wild around their vineyards, and the watering can the care and nuture an artisan grower puts into her vineyards. 100% Sangiovese from vines aged 16 to 31 years old on sand and clay. 24 hours' maceration on skins. Pressed and then spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel. Aged in stainless steel for six months. Unfiltered and unfined. Total added sulphites 30 mg/l. 5,500 bottles made.
Wow. Just wow. This deep rosehip orange-pink rosé is a head-back, throat-to-the-sky, shout-of-song celebration of life. It's dry and fine-knit with cashmere texture that alludes to tannins with a feather in the air. It's wild raspberries and freeze-dried Turkish delight, powdered. It's cardamom and the mouth-drawing citric tang of sumac. It's blood orange and pickled strawberries. It's impishly fun, but it's very, very far from simple. Outstanding rosé, in fact. 17.5/20 points. (TC)"
Vinous Reverie Notes
Named after one of Maria Sole’s grandfather’s favorite horses, “Noble Kara” claims its rightful place in the proud tradition of “real” rosé wines - rosés made from fully ripe, healthy grapes trusted to ferment on their own and allowed to express a natural depth of color. Pure Sangiovese from three different parcels on the property: Ficomontano, Melogranino and Campo Cavalli. This vivacious wine spends 24 hours macerating on its skins before pressing and fermentation, which takes place in stainless steel via naturally occurring yeasts and with no temperature control. Bottled without fining or filtration, and with a minimum of sulfur.
