"Vivid flavors of ground spice and graphite are layered with hints of crunchy pear, crushed white raspberry fruit, lemon zest, spun honey and chamomile in this mouthwatering Champagne, which is refined, chalky in texture and harmonious, with a long, lingering finish of rich grilled nut, coffee and spice..."

"This is a pale-colored wine with a finely wrought texture and great fruit. It is tight and mineral on the one hand, but balanced with the crispest red-currant flavors that offer a bright line in acidity. Delicious hints of age round out the final fresh aftertaste."

"Yellow tomato, yellow plum and lemon - all with seed, pit and pip piquancy - inform the firm, bright palate of Dosnon & Lepage's NV Brut Blanc de Noirs Recolte Noire Disg. 1/2013. The textural influence of lees is less evident here than in the other wines I tasted most recently from these two vignerons. But this upbeat, energetic, and mouth-coating pure Pinot mingles sourdough yeastiness with salinity for a cheek-pinching and salivary gland-milking finish."
Vinous Reverie Notes
Récolte Noire is a Blanc de Noirs made entirely from Pinot Noir with a minimum of two years aging in the bottle and with a dosage around 5g/L. While most growers would put a Blanc de Noirs at the end of a tasting of their Champagnes Davy puts it near the start as Pinot on Kimmeridgian soils is delicate, filigreed and mineral. The Récolte Noire certainly has all those characteristics along with a toastiness and elegance of fruit that resembles fresh raspberry or strawberry. Davy states that the refined fruitiness in his wines is from fermenting the base wine in used Puligny-Montrachet barrels which makes sense as he learned his trade in Burgundy.
