94 points James Suckling
"What an exciting Kabinett this is, with a stunning interplay of white peaches and red berries, of racy acidity and subtle fruit aromas. Then the slate minerality and the cool forest air drop in and make this ridiculously refreshing. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drink or hold."

"The 2021 Oberhäuser Leistenberg Riesling Kabinett is a pure, precise and coolish, piquant and slatey Riesling with lemon chutney and fermented green pepper notes. Lush, piquant and stimulating fresh, this is an intense, saline and crystalline Kabinett with gorgeous fruit and aging potential. 8.5% stated alcohol."

"VDP Grosse Lage. Grey, carbon-laced decomposed argillaceous shale. 45-year-old vines. South-east facing.
Fine aromatic layers of apricot, bergamot orange, lime peel, mint and lemon balm; wait a minute, sniff again, and the whole nose shuffles itself up like a deck of cards. Fine acidity, filigreed and spicy. Perfectly executed sugar pirouettes; elegant and sleek. A mesmerising and quiet confidence on the weightless palate. Lingering, stony finish. The unbearable lightness of Riesling, Kundera would be proud. 18/20 points. (PS)"
Vinous Reverie Notes
Oberhausen Leistenberg - The Leistenberg vineyard lies in a small side valley of the Nahe just outside Oberhausen. The name is a double play on words. “Leisten ” means “achieve ” in German, and the Leistenberg perpetually lives up to its name. “Lei ” is also a regional word for slate, and these warm, decomposed clay slate soils and steep terraced hillsides provide ideal conditions for Riesling to thrive. Th e southeast-facing slope basks in the morning sun, which dries out any excess moisture and promotes healthy fruit. The afternoon sun is less powerful, nurturing a long ripening period and moderate alcohol levels. An ideal vineyard for Kabinett wines of high minerality and sophisticated elegance. Traditional, precise Kabinett with delicate slate aromatics. Nuanced finesse and spicy acidity.
