Description
2 Stars Hachette Guide
"This is a very good ambassador of Muscadet. Finesse, freshness, crunchy substance around fruity and floral notes, a welcome little iodized touch: all the attributes are combined in this easily accessible, easily digestible and perfectly balanced wine.
Established in Saint-Fiacre-sur-Maine, Pierre Luc Bouchaud operates a 21 ha estate. Planted on a gneiss terroir on the banks of the Sèvre, the vines have been in organic conversion since the 2018 vintage."
Vinous Reverie Notes
Pierre Luc Bouchaud took over his parents in 1987. The Domaine has been in the family since several generations. They’re established in Saint Fiacre Sur Maine in the heart of Muscadet. In 1987 he started with 11 ha of vines and grew until reaching 20 hectares. The whole area is planted with Melon de Bourgogne, the only grape allowed in Muscadet. The average age of the vines are 30 years old with the oldest planted more than 80 years ago. After gentle pressing and a cold soak in tank of about 8 hours, the temperature is raised and fermentation begins. The final alcoholic degree normally is 12-12.5%. The wine then rests sur lie (usually with some lees stirring depending on the vintage) for 7 months. It has a lovely mineral texture, with flavors that include citrus, green apple and melon.
