"This succulent, juicy wine has ripe cherry flavors, generous tannins and freshness all at the same time. Acidity and fruitiness hold the wine together and promise aging. Drink from 2021."
Vinous Reverie Notes
The organic domaine of Henry Pelle consists of 40 hectares covering the 2 appellations of Sancerre and Menetou-Salon. Widely regarded as the best producer in the Menetou-Salon AOC, only Sauvignon Blanc (2/3) and Pinot Noir grapes (1/3) are grown on Kimmeridgean clay and limestone marl. The cellars are situated in the beautiful village of Morogues in the eastern region of the Loire Valley and the business is run by Anne Pelle, wife of the late Eric Pelle, assisted by oenologist Julien Zernott. This delicious Sauvignon is fermented naturally with yeasts from the vineyards and is aged on its lees. Perfect with oysters on the half-shell or goat's cheese. Winemaker Notes: A blend of 7 parcels from the highest slopes of the appellation. This loca- tion (cool yet sunny climate) and this soil (Kimmeridgian marl) give this wine a subtle, pure nose with aromas of white flowers and citrus fruits. The taste is racy and cristalline, clear with a citrus fruit taste initially fol- lowed by a saline and mineral finish. Nothing overly exuberant: just clarity and precision.
