90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"Another successful vintage. It’s floral, herbal and spicy up front, with black cherry and licorice notes on the medium to full-bodied palate. The tannins are ripe and creamy, the finish long."
Vinous Reverie Notes
Domaine Alary is producing textured and lovely Southern Rhone wines. Founded in 1692 (under the reign of the Sun King), Domaine Alary lies in the commune of Cairanne. The vines for "La Gerbaude," 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah, come from terraces of limestone with shallow clay soils covered by pebbles. The grapes are hand-harvested, and maceration is done for about 14-18 days. Tasting Notes: The nose is a rather intense medley of herbs, spice, black fruit, plum and cassis. The palate carries over the black fruit, with a dense texture on the finish. Food Pairing: A hearty wine to accompany red meats and stews.
