90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"Leading off the reds, and a terrific value, the 2014 Languedoc-La Clape Classique checks in as a mix of 40% Syrah, 40% Grenache and 20% Mourvèdre that was completely destemmed and aged 12 months in tank. Winemaker Eric Fabre commented that the harvest here was spread out over a full two months to get each block at the maturity they wanted. It offers pretty, classic La Clape notes of iodine, black raspberries, crushed flowers and olive as well as a medium-bodied, elegant, balanced and character-filled style. Count me a fan and I’d happily drink it anytime over the coming 4-5 years. It lacks the complexity and length of the Grand Vin, but gives you a solid taste of the style of this estate for not much buck."
"40% Syrah, 40% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre. Hard limestone screes of La Clape and miocene pebble terrace. 100% de-stemmed, gravity-fed into vats, traditional temperature-controlled fermentation. 30-day maceration. Maturation in tanks for 18 months. Natural static clarification by gravity, no fining, no filtering. TA 3.1 g/l. pH 3.8.
Serious nose, roasted meats, rich fruit and damp-cured tobacco leaves. Big and broad and dark, roasted plums with a tinge of juniper and wild herbs and damson. Ripe dry tannins, sturdy but highly polished, frame this not-insubstantial wine with all the support it needs. Real crackle on the finish – as if someone spiked those juniper berries with a bit of chilli dust! 17/20 points.(TC)"
Vinous Reverie Notes
"Syrah for fruit and spices delicately vinified and blended with Grenache for roundness, a dash of Mourvèdre giving structure and the refreshing minty touch from the terroir of La Clape appellation. A tasty, smooth and balanced wine to enjoy without complexes!" ~ Eric Fabre (Winemaker)
