Description
93 points James Suckling
"Medium-bodied malbec with violets, blueberries, raspberries, licorice and orange peel on the nose. Vibrant and crunchy, with bright, pleasantly lifted berry fruit and tight, stemmy tannins. Lots of tension."
92+ points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The 2021 Appellation Paraje Altamira Malbec was my favorite from this range of Malbecs from different IGs (Indicación Geograficas, the appellations of Argentina), with freshness, elegance, balance, complexity and nuance. It has moderate 13.4% alcohol and very good freshness and acidity (in parameters and in the mouth), and it's clean, precise and ethereal with lots of energy. It is expressive and floral, varietal and with the full chalky texture that is a distinct characteristic of Altamira. It has polished tannins and finished tasty and long."
Vinous Reverie Notes
Located in the Southern part of the Uco Valley, Altamira has long been recognized as a premium location for grape growing. The sandy, alluvial soils with the caticata stones differentiate it from its neighbors. The Catena family has had vines there since the 1950s. Located above 1000 meters in the Alluvial fan of the Tunuyan River, the elevation and the sandy soils bring an elegance to all the varietals of the region especially Malbec.
