93 points James Suckling
"Ripe-apple, white-peach and flint aromas follow through to a full body with layers of fruit and tension. Mineral and hay undertones with some honey blossom, too. Flavorful at the end with almost smoky character. Drink now or hold."
90 points Vinous
"It’s amazing to think that the 2019 Chardonnay from Alois Lageder is their “entry-level” expression of the variety. Masses of white smoke minerals, wet stone, dusty florals and a spritz of lime define the dramatic bouquet. It’s vibrant and spicy, full of salty tension and verve yet still silky and soothing throughout. The balance here is simply stunning, mixing textural, ripe tropical fruits with zesty acids, leaving a wonderfully pure presence on the palate."
Vinous Reverie Notes
The Chardonnay grapes utilized for this bottling mail from sites around Magrè, Cortaccia, Salorno, and Pochi sitting between 230 to 500 meters above sea level, and have the chalky gravel soils that are ideal for growing Chardonnay. The age of the vines ranges between 10-76 years old. After harvesting, the grapes are softly crushed and pressed, with fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine then matures for approximately four months on its lees. Aromatically the wine is delicately perfumed with notes of peaches, apricots, white flowers, and a hint of salty minerality. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and ever so slightly creamy from the lees contact, with fruity driven flavors.
